ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Pointed West is a conceptual northern California craft beer company.  I wanted to create a project from scratch that showed I was able develop a company name, logo and package design.

I began with making a new Pinterest board comprised of a couple hundred craft beer labels and package ideas. I then typed up a company concept document, where I wrote a quick description of how I wanted the company to be represented. This included a list of possible names, possible color combinations, and a brief elevator pitch of the brand. After deciding the name was “Pointed West” I wanted to sketch out a can label that had a design element that literally pointed left on the can, as a subtle way of pointing westward like a compass. I did 52 pencil sketches, and chose two that I felt worked best. I continued to expand on those two in adobe illustrator, with a more refined approach. From there I chose one that felt appropriate for the project, and finalized that label.
