ABOUT ME

I am Austin Matthew, an artist and graphic designer based in San Jose, California. When I'm not working on designs for clients I am usually painting or sculpting in my studio. I try to create at least one thing a day, either as an artist or designer, so I can keep experimenting how to bring out my best work.

I received my BFA from Otis College of Art and Design, where I was able to co-found a collective of artists and designers called 225 Studios. This collective allows me to expand as a creative individual by being exposed to other designers’ creative process and design thinking.

For me creativity means looking for the right problems to solve. I enjoy producing designs with a purpose and ensuring all decisions are deliberate. The first idea is rarely the best, so I am willing to draw 50 ideas in a sketchbook before the right one is chosen. I also love doing this kind of ideation as part of a team.  The right design process along with patience are essential for the right result.

I'm both passionate and proud of my work as a creative thinker and always interested in learning something new. I enjoy working as part of a team but also thrive as a solo designer. I am driven to expand my creative knowledge, and look for all opportunities that allow me to continue the journey.
